Family Law Online Services
Washington State

Welcome!

What are the reasons to chose a virtual lawyer?  You can talk to me via skype - an internet based communication medium where we can see and talk to each from the comfort of your own home.  See www.skype.com

COST EFFECTIVE - Save hundreds of $$

You get quick turn-around on legal documents with the confidence that they are prepared by an attorney.  Paralegals are not allowed to give advice.  I can answer questions and help to minimize any post action litigation.

  • CONVENIENT HOURS - No need to leave your home or miss work

I can communicate via e-mail, telephone, fax, and internet chat room.  There does not need to be a face to face meeting to get the information necessary to go forward with a family law legal action.

  • MINIMIZES LONG DISTANCE LITIGATION HASSLES

Many times, it is difficult to understand or talk with attorneys when you need to litigate a family matter in Washington when you are in another state or country.  For instance, military members who have their home of record in Washington but are stationed in Iraq or on submarines.

  • QUALITY ASSURANCE - I have to follow professional rules.

I am subject to the rules and regulations for practicing attorneys in the state of Washington.  That means this is not a "fly-by-night" operation or some gimmick.  I provide quality service to the best of my ability which is far better than paralegals or legal technicians.  I also have extensive experience in family law matters and know what gets litigated in court because of people who fail to understand all of the legal issues regarding certain matters.

Are you the right client to benefit from virtual attorney services?

If both sides agree or the matter is not going to be contested, then, "yes" you are the right client for these services.  Just about any kind of family law action can be drafted if all the parties agree and entry of the papers would not go against public policy and adheres to statutory requirements.

SERVICES:

  • AGREED MATTERS

Divorce, Legal Separation, Child Support Modifications, Adoptions, Third-Party Custody, Custody Modifications

  • PRO SE REPRESENTATION

I cannot represent you in court, but what I can do is to assist in making sure that your paperwork is written effectively.

  • LONG-DISTANCE MEDIATION

There are several modalities for this.  Mediation is one of my strongest areas.  We can e-mail, chat room, or conference call.  Many times, parties can agree on all but maybe one or two items.  I can help you explore options so that both of you can be happy with your agreement and a divorce (or other action) can proceed without costly legal intervention.

  • SECOND OPINION

Many times people are in the middle of litigation or they want to know if the drafted papers have potential pitfalls.  I can give you a second opinion on these.  You can either fax them to my office or scan and e-mail them to me.

  • WHAT DOES IT COST?

For a simple, uncontested divorce or legal separation with no children, it takes me about 1 hour to complete all the paperwork from the beginning to the end.  Therefore, the attorney time would cost $175.  Usually for an uncontested divorce or legal separation with children, it takes me about 3-4 hours to complete the initial paperwork and the final paperwork.  Therefore, the attorney time would cost around $525-$700.

I charge $175/hour.  Agreed child support or child custody modifications are about 2-3 hours.  I also can help with adoptions or draft consent to terminate parental rights.

Attorney time does not include the filing fees.  Filing fees are anywhere from $120 for a modification to $250 for a dissolution.  The filing fees are county specific.  Another cost can be the cost of process service.  Depending on the circumstances this can be $0 if you have a friend serve the other party; or this can be up to $100 if service is in another state.

Total costs for a dissolution including the filing fee is around $415-$775.
